The prestigious Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced its list of 14 finalists for the Class of 2024 on Friday night, featuring a stellar lineup of basketball legends from various eras and disciplines.

 

Among the distinguished finalists are iconic NBA figures Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups, alongside WNBA star Seimone Augustus. The list also includes renowned coach Bo Ryan and basketball legend Jerry West in the contributor category. This announcement sets the stage for the official induction ceremony scheduled for April 6 at the men’s Final Four in Phoenix.

Vince Carter, widely regarded as one of the most electrifying players in NBA history, made a significant impact over his illustrious career spanning four decades. Known for his high-flying dunks and scoring prowess, Carter emerged as a star with the Toronto Raptors, setting franchise records and captivating fans with his dazzling performances. His achievements include winning the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest and ranking ninth in all-time 3-pointers made, solidifying his legacy as a true basketball icon.

Chauncey Billups, a former NBA Finals MVP, earns his spot as a finalist for the first time after multiple years on the ballot. Billups enjoyed a distinguished career highlighted by his leadership and clutch performances, particularly during his time with the Detroit Pistons. A key figure in the Pistons’ championship run in 2004, Billups left an indelible mark on the game and continues to be recognized for his contributions to basketball.
