University of Santo Tomas Completes Remarkable Comeback to Defeat Far Eastern University

In a thrilling showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) pulled off a stunning reverse sweep against Far Eastern University (FEU), securing a hard-fought victory in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament.

Despite facing a two-set deficit, UST showcased their resilience and determination, rallying back to claim a dramatic 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-7 triumph over FEU. The win extended UST’s perfect run in the tournament to four consecutive victories, solidifying their status as a formidable contender.

Leading the charge for UST was Mary Banagua, who delivered a stellar performance with 15 points. Supported by the contributions of Xyza Gula and Regina Jurado, who chipped in 13 points each, the Golden Tigresses overcame their own struggles, including 40 errors, to outlast the Lady Tamaraws in a thrilling five-set battle.

On the opposing side, Chenie Tagaod and Jean Asis led FEU’s offensive efforts with 15 points each. Despite their valiant performance, the Morayta-based squad was unable to maintain their early momentum, ultimately falling short against UST’s relentless onslaught.
