As the UAAP Season 86 volleyball tournaments kick off, a new generation of stars has emerged to captivate fans and dominate the court. Among the standout performers in the league’s first week of action are University of Sto. Tomas’ (UST) Angge Poyos and Far Eastern University’s (FEU) Ariel Cacao, who have propelled their teams to unblemished records from February 17 to 25.
Angge Poyos, representing the Golden Tigresses, has been a force to be reckoned with, averaging an impressive 20 points per match in the team’s three victories. Poyos showcased her prowess with a standout performance against the University of the East, where she tallied 24 points, including a stellar showing against seasoned opponents from National University and defending champions De La Salle University. Despite her stellar contributions, Poyos remains hungry for improvement, expressing her determination to elevate her game even further in the upcoming matches.
On the men’s side, Ariel Cacao of FEU has been instrumental in his team’s success, playing a pivotal role in all of the Tamaraws’ wins. The second-year playmaker has been averaging an impressive 17.67 excellent sets per game, demonstrating his ability to orchestrate plays and set up scoring opportunities for his teammates. Cacao’s leadership and confidence on the court have been vital to FEU’s early success, as he continues to make his mark as one of the top players in the league.
Both Poyos and Cacao have earned recognition for their stellar performances, with Poyos edging out tough competition for the weekly accolade and Cacao standing out among his peers.
