Kirk Cañete Returns with Determination in NCAA Juniors Basketball Tournament

For Kirk Cañete of the San Beda University Red Cubs, the NCAA juniors basketball tournament represents more than just another season on the court. It’s an opportunity for redemption, a chance to rewrite the narrative after facing adversity in Season 98.

In a heartbreaking turn of events during a playoff game against San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Cañete suffered an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the playoffs, leaving him with unfinished business and a burning desire to return stronger than ever.

Fast forward to NCAA Season 99, and Cañete is back in action, determined to make his mark on the court and lead his team to victory. In just their second game of the season, Cañete showcased his skills with an impressive performance, tallying 24 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, proving that he’s ready to pick up where he left off.

Reflecting on his return to the court, Cañete emphasizes the significance of this season and the opportunity it presents for him to showcase his true capabilities. Despite a tough loss in their season opener, Cañete remains focused on the journey ahead and is determined to make the most of his time on the court.

“Last season, I was really sad since they lost and I could not do anything. I was just there watching. Now, this season is special since I can show who I really am and last season was cut short. Our seniors last season are now out so I’m here and it’s time to step up” Cañete expressed, highlighting his eagerness to contribute to the success of the Red Cubs.
