Veteran basketball player James Yap participated in the training session of the Blackwater Bossing on Thursday as he prepares to officially sign with the team on Friday, February 9. The two-time PBA MVP confirmed his impending contract signing with Blackwater, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and trust extended to him by the team’s management.

Yap’s move to Blackwater marks a new phase in his basketball journey, as he adds the Bossing to his list of PBA teams, which already includes Purefoods-Magnolia and Rain or Shine.

Following the expiration of his contract with Rain or Shine after the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Yap sought a new opportunity with Blackwater, and his request for release was granted by his former team.

As he prepares to embark on this new chapter, the former PBA champion aims to contribute to Blackwater’s efforts to improve upon their performance from the previous conference. Despite finishing at the bottom of the standings in the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner’s Cup with a 1-10 record.
