Filipino foil fencer Clyd Lorenzo Guinto showcased his talent and determination at the recent Asian Cadet Fencing Championships in Manama, Bahrain, with an impressive performance that earned him a rare “all wins” campaign in pool play and a Top 20 finish.

At just 15 years old, Guinto demonstrated remarkable skill and composure as he navigated through the competition. Competing in his first-ever continental meet for 17-and-under fencers, Guinto dominated Pool No. 9, securing a flawless record of 5-0 against his opponents.

In his pool play matches, Guinto displayed his prowess by defeating opponents from Oman, India, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, and Chinese Taipei with scores of 5-3, 5-4, 5-0, and two 5-3 victories. His stellar performance in the opening round propelled him to the Direct Elimination round as the No. 7 ranked fencer.

Advancing to the elimination stage, Guinto continued to impress as he secured a decisive 15-12 victory against his opponent from Oman in the Round of 64. Despite facing stiff competition, Guinto’s determination and skill were evident throughout the tournament.

In the end, Guinto secured a commendable Top 20 finish, placing at No. 17 among 80 fencers in the highly competitive event. His achievement is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and talent in the sport of fencing.
