Far Eastern University (FEU) continued its impressive run in the UAAP Season 86 men’s volleyball tournament, securing another commanding victory, this time against the University of the East (UE), to keep its unbeaten streak intact.
The Morayta-based squad delivered a stellar performance as they swept the Red Warriors in straight sets, clinching the win with scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-15 in a Sunday morning showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Leading the charge for the Tamaraws was Jayjay Javelona, who showcased his offensive prowess with 13 points, including 11 from attacks and two from blocks. Martin Bugaoan provided ample support with 11 markers, contributing nine points from attacks and two from blocks.
After a closely contested first set, FEU asserted its dominance in the following two sets, capitalizing on their strong offensive play and minimizing errors to outscore UE in attacks and commit fewer mistakes.
FEU head coach Eddieson Orcullo expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, highlighting their cohesive and disciplined play on the court. The victory marked FEU’s third consecutive win of the season, solidifying their position as one of the top contenders in the league.
Dryx Saavedra and Andrei Delicana also made significant contributions to FEU’s triumph, chipping in eight and seven points, respectively, to help propel their team to victory.
