De La Salle University’s Green Spikers bounced back from their recent defeat with a commanding performance, securing a four-set victory over the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) in the UAAP Season 86 men’s volleyball tournament.

In a thrilling showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, the Green Spikers displayed their resilience and determination as they outlasted the UST Golden Spikers with a final scoreline of 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15.

Leading the charge for De La Salle were Noel Kampton and JM Ronquillo, who delivered stellar performances to propel their team to victory. Kampton showcased his offensive prowess with 18 points, supported by impressive defensive play with 14 excellent receptions and two digs. Ronquillo contributed 16 markers, while Vince Maglinao and Eco Adajar also made significant contributions with 16 points each.

Eco Adajar, in particular, emphasized the team’s determination to bounce back from their previous defeat and credited their improved performance to their hard work and focus in training. Adajar’s solid playmaking skills and contributions on both ends of the court played a crucial role in De La Salle’s success against UST.

Despite a strong showing from the UST squad, the Green Spikers capitalized on their opponent’s errors and executed their game plan effectively to secure the win. La Salle’s head coach, Jose Roque, acknowledged UST’s resilience but praised his team’s effort and commitment to executing their game plan.

“UST is a formidable opponent, but we were able to capitalize on our opportunities and execute our game plan effectively,” said Roque after the game. “Our focus in training paid off, and I’m proud of the team’s performance today.”

In addition to their offensive firepower, De La Salle’s strong floor defense, led by Vince Maglinao, played a crucial role in limiting UST’s scoring opportunities and securing the victory.
