In a commanding display of skill and teamwork, Daniel Padilla led the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Squires to a resounding 106-85 victory over the struggling Arellano University Braves in the NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball tournament.
Padilla delivered a stellar performance, pouring in a game-high 28 points with an impressive 72.2 shooting percentage. His contributions extended beyond scoring, as he also grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists, and recorded two steals, showcasing his versatility on both ends of the court.
The defending champions Squires extended their winning streak to five games, improving their record to 6-1 for the season. On the other hand, the Braves continued to struggle, suffering their fifth consecutive loss and dropping to a 1-6 record.
Jolo Navarro also played a pivotal role in Letran’s dominant victory, registering a massive double-double with 19 points and 22 rebounds. Navarro’s outstanding performance was crucial, especially in the absence of George Diamante late in the game, who fouled out with over six minutes remaining.
Padilla’s impact was evident throughout the game, particularly in the third period when he scored back-to-back baskets to extend Letran’s lead to a commanding 35 points. Despite a brief surge from Arellano, the Squires maintained their composure and ultimately secured the victory with their relentless offense and solid defense.
