Colegio de San Juan de Letran recently honored the memory of Arnold Villanueva, a beloved faculty member and esteemed coach of the Letran Cheering Squad, who passed away on February 10.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on social media on Saturday, Letran expressed its profound sadness at the loss of Engr. Villanueva, accompanied by photos capturing the solemn commemoration.

Arnold Villanueva, fondly known as the ‘Father of Philippine Cheerleading,’ made indelible contributions to the cheerleading community. Over the years, he coached various cheerleading teams, including the formidable Central College of the Philippines Bobcats and the renowned Adamson Pep Squad. His leadership extended beyond individual teams, as he played pivotal roles in different cheering organizations, notably the former Philippine Cheer Alliance.

The Philippine Cheer Union, acknowledging Villanueva’s unparalleled impact, expressed deep sorrow over his passing, emphasizing the irreplaceable void his absence leaves in the cheerleading world.
