The HD Spikers showcased their resilience and firepower as they triumphed over the Iloilo D’Navigators in a hard-fought battle, clinching the title in four sets with scores of 27-25, 31-33, 25-16, and 25-18.
Leading the charge for Cignal HD was Joshua Umandal, who delivered a stellar performance with 28 points, showcasing his prowess with 23 kills and four blocks. Umandal’s remarkable display earned him the coveted Most Valuable Player honors, solidifying his status as a standout in the tournament. Additionally, JP Bugaoan made significant contributions with 23 points, including five blocks, further bolstering Cignal HD’s formidable lineup.
The HD Spikers exhibited their superiority on the court, outclassing Iloilo with a commanding 65-49 advantage in kills, underscoring their dominance throughout the tournament.
For Cignal HD, the victory marked a moment of redemption, reclaiming the Champions League crown after relinquishing it to the University of Santo Tomas in the previous edition of the competition.
Despite a valiant effort from Iloilo, led by Kyle Villamor’s 24 points, the D’Navigators fell short, tasting defeat for the first time in the tournament.
