CEU Scorpions overcome newcomers to maintain their undefeated run in UCAL basketball

The Scorpions were in the game by winning thanks to an impressive second quarter performance that enabled them to gain a two-digit lead that proved too much for the Patriots to beat.

Franz Diaz once again led the charge against CEU having scored 14 points as well as 10 boards, as the Scorpions beat PWU 23-8 over the decisive second quarter. Daniel Marcelo also had his share of 14 points while his teammate Dylan Darbin added 10.

The Patriots attempted to fight to come back, but couldn’t find the strength to take on the Scorpions, who moved to the score of 2-0. PWU was playing its second consecutive game and was coming off a grueling overtime loss of 95-86 against Guang Ming College in its UCAL debut on Monday.

Another team that got a piece of the lead in the beginning by CEU also was Philippine Christian University – Dasmarinas which has improved to a 2-0 record after its 79-59 victory of the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas.

Skipper Joshua Dino made a splash for the Dolphins with 21 points as well as five rebounds and six assists during the game. PCU-D got off to an impressive start in the first quarter and did not look back for the Pirates in a tie after two games.
