The Ateneo de Manila University Men’s Tennis Team continued its impressive run in the UAAP Season 86 tournament with a commanding 5-0 sweep against Adamson University on Sunday at the Felicisimo Ampon Tennis Center in Manila.

The Blue Eagles’ victory propelled them to solo second place in the standings, boasting a stellar 6-1 record. Ateneo’s dominant performance puts them just behind the league-leading UST team, which remains undefeated at 6-0.

In a display of skill and determination, Ateneo’s top rookie candidate, JD Velez, played a pivotal role in securing the win against Adamson. Velez clinched the victory for Ateneo by defeating Ramon Bentillo with a score of 6-4, 4-1 (ret.) in the second singles match, showcasing his talent and resilience on the court.

The Blue Eagles set the tone for the match early on, with the team securing victories in the first two matches to establish a commanding 2-0 lead. This early advantage provided Ateneo with the momentum needed to dominate throughout the rest of the competition.
